Short answer: Choose Atmosphere if you want built-in storage seats, a sleeper option for overnight guests and a medium-firm seat that holds its shape. Choose Ciello if you want a very soft, loose-cushion sofa with a dedicated chaise and a storage ottoman. Both are modular, both have removable, machine-washable covers, and both come in Performance Chenille and Aquaforte Velvet options.
The two sofas look similar in a photo, but they are built for different habits. One is a flexible all-rounder with three functions. The other is a softer, deeper-feeling sofa for lounging. Here is how they differ on the points people ask about most.

What is the main difference between Atmosphere and Ciello?
The main difference is how the seat feels and what the modules can do. Atmosphere has D35 foam seat cushions that give medium-firm support and keep their shape without regular fluffing. It comes in three styles: Regular, Storage and Sleeper. Ciello has loose, feather-free cushions with a D35 foam core and an extra 1.5-inch (4 cm) foam layer on top of the seat base, which gives a soft, sink-in feel. It comes in two sizes, Regular and XL, with a chaise option and a storage ottoman.
In short, Atmosphere gives you more built-in functions. Ciello gives you more softness and a longer place to stretch out.

Which has more storage?
Atmosphere has more. Storage is available in each seat, corner and ottoman, as well as in the long ottoman, and each storage module holds between 74.5 and 79.4 litres. The storage is hidden under the seat, so it keeps blankets, pillows and everyday items out of sight without adding a separate piece of furniture. Our guide to sleeper sofas with storage explains where bedding goes on the Sleeper style.
Ciello has storage in its ottoman only, with about 75 litres of hidden space. That suits a lounge room that needs one place for throws and games. It does not suit a sofa where several seats need to store something.
Which has removable covers?
Both do. On Atmosphere, the removable, machine-washable upholstery covers the compatible seats, arms, backrests and upholstered base components. On Ciello, the removable, machine-washable covers include the seat and back cushions, and our product page lists the arms and base as well. Check the module you plan to buy on the product page, since covers are listed per piece.
Fabric matters for care. Corduroy, Performance Fabric and the other fabrics follow the care labels on each cover: machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, air dry, and avoid bleach and high heat. Our guide to slipcovered sofas covers what to look for in removable covers.
Which is better for overnight guests?
Atmosphere is the better choice for guests, because it is the one with a sleeper. A three-seat Sleeper configuration opens to a surface of 88.6 x 59.1 inches (225 x 150 cm), and individual Sleeper modules can open on their own, which gives you extra room to lounge without converting the whole sofa. The sleeping size depends on the configuration you choose.
Ciello does not have a sleeper. Its chaise is a comfortable place to rest for an afternoon, but it is not designed as a bed. If guests are a regular part of your home, compare Atmosphere with our sofa beds in Neptune vs. Orian vs. Atmosphere Sleeper.
Which is softer, and which is deeper?
Ciello is softer. Atmosphere is deeper in the regular size. Atmosphere has a seat depth of 27.3 inches (70 cm) with the square back and 29.3 inches (75 cm) with the round back, which adds about 2 inches. Ciello has a seat depth of 21.7 inches (55 cm) in Regular and 26.4 inches (67 cm) in XL, with a seat height of 21.3 inches (54 cm).
Ciello XL closes most of the gap in depth, and its high angled backrest leans back for a more reclined feel. If you sit upright, the square back on Atmosphere or the original back on Ciello keeps you more upright. Our seat depth and height guide compares our sofas by body size, and our comfort guide covers firmness and back support. How do the backs and arms compare?
Both sofas let you change the look and the footprint with the back and arm style you pick. On Atmosphere, the square back is 29.1 inches (74 cm) tall and sits more upright. The round back adds about 2 inches of seat depth and is also taller, with a softer silhouette. Arms come in a high square arm at 29.1 inches (74 cm), a low square arm at 21.3 inches (54 cm) and a round arm at 30.9 inches (78.5 cm). The round arms are about 2 inches slimmer per side than the square arms.
On Ciello, you choose between the original backrest and the high angled backrest. The high angled option leans back more, with a back height of 37 inches (94 cm), compared with 33 inches (84 cm) for the original on Regular and 34.3 inches (87 cm) on XL. Pick the style that matches how you sit, then check the height against your window sills and wall art.
How do the fabrics compare?
Both sofas share several fabrics, with differences at the edges. Abrasion resistance is measured in Martindale rubs, and higher numbers mean more resistance.
